VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation and LOGIS announced a successful go-live of the first stage of building a New Generation Planning system. In order to maintain the high standards of Customer Service and to further improve Operational Efficiency, the management of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation decided to implement the first stage of New Generation Planning system with LOGIS at the beginning of 2015. The main goal is an improvement of the order fulfillment process and the related KPIs.
The following main tasks were successfully solved during the first step: material flow synchronization, support of production rhythm, starting from melting of titan ingots to shipping of the finished products. The software product LOGIS Production Planner was used as the basis of the newly-developed planning system of VSMPO-AVISMA.
“The implementation of the project allowed specialists of VSMPO-AVISMA to look at the production planning process from an entirely new perspective. For example, we met the leading metallurgical companies, customers of LOGIS, with advanced approaches to production management and started to use some of their methods in practice in our environment,” highlights Oleg Ryabov, Production Director, VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation. “We were able to lay the foundation of an advanced planning system and of an expert team which will act as a basis for continuous improvements in our company. It is worth highlighting that the evolution of the planning system doesn’t stop with the project end. Despite qualitative support from LOGIS, based on objective reasons, we were not able to complete everything from our side during the project. Therefore, we now continue to work on improving the quality of normative data, providing trainings for our end users, improving our accounting policy.”
“Implementation of a production planning system is a serious challenge for an IT department of any company,” says Pavel Kovalnogov, Head of IT Department, VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation. “The philosophy of an advanced planning system is completely different from ERP systems’ ideology; that is why we needed some time for reengineering of our internal processes and, to begin with, for changing our mindset. I would like to acknowledge the generally high level of support from our partner – LOGIS. The experience and knowledge of its specialists together with our persistence defined the success of the project.”
Vitaly Solodovnikov, Business Development Director, adds the view of the LOGIS Company: “From the position of the supplier I highly appreciate the results of the first stage of the implementation of the planning system. I believe the decision to use LOGIS New Generation Advanced Planning technology at VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation in order to increase Customer Delivery Performance together with Operational Efficiency fits well into the company’s strategy to provide products with high added value to the main players of aerospace industry, and to do so reliably and to be highly competitive.”
“I am positive about perspective of cooperation with Russian Metal companies. Our project with VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation is a very good example of that. I believe our cooperation with VSMPO-AVISMA will continue and will result in mutual benefits for both companies,” says Dalibor Konvicka, CEO and Chairman of LOGIS.
